Does a Hensley hitch reduce tongue weight?

What is trailer Tongue Weight?

Tongue weight (TW) refers to the downward force exerted on a vehicle-trailer coupling point when towing. It is recommended that the tongue weight should be around 10-15% of the gross trailer weight.

The Role of a Weight Distribution Hitch

No hitch on the market reduces tongue weight. That’s not possible. Weight distribution hitches help distribute the tongue weight across the towing setup, rather than having it all sit on the back of the tow vehicle. This improves steering control, braking performance, ride quality, and overall stability. However, weight distribution hitches alone do not eliminate sway.

A weight distribution hitch does not play a role in sway elimination. It will help stabilize your ride quality, but The Hensley Hitch, also known as as the Hensley Arrow® or Hensley Cub, is designed to effectively distribute weight and eliminate trailer sway. Unlike conventional weight distribution hitches, the Hensley Hitch uses a unique linkage design that is strong and reliable.

How the Hensley hitch impacts tongue weight?

The Hensley Hitch uses two independent mechanisms to provide sway elimination and weight distribution so you can fine-tune ride quality for your tow vehicle and trailer exactly as you like it, while maintaining complete sway elimination.

The Hensley hitch does not add or reduce tongue weight, it distributes the tongue weight more evenly across both axles of the vehicle and both axles of the trailer improved to improve the overall towing experience.
